Full Training and Assessment Course:
This course is a competency-based training programme that allows students to complete both the formal
and informal requirements of the qualification at Industry Training QLD’s training facility or your workplace
by prior arrangement. Students are required to be trained to a level suitable to achieve all elements
necessary to satisfy the competency assessment. The course fees include Training, Learner’s Guide,
Logbook which incorporates the Training Plan, Written and Practical Assessments.

Course Application:
This unit is appropriate for those working in heavy industries and who are required to operate an overhead bridge or gantry crane (remote operation only) as a part of their job description.

Course Elements:
At the end of this course the successful trainee will be able to:
• Plan work for the prevailing working conditions.
• Use the controls and operating systems to manage the operation of the equipment.
• Locate the load and identify the load characteristics.
• Safely move the load.
• Monitor the controls and stop equipment.
• Shut down and secure the equipment after the completion of operations

Course Structure:
On completion of the formal training a ‘Statement of Attainment’ will be issued as evidence that the formal
training has been completed.

Course Assessment:
A formal assessment will be conducted which involves successfully completing the written knowledge test
or assignment. This written assessment can be completed at the end of the theory training. The trainee
must highlight this preference prior to the formal training as the assessment cost will be required to be paid
prior to this assessment taking place. The practical assessment can only be completed once the on-the-job
training has been completed and must be undertaken within 6 months of the formal theory assessment.

Course Duration:
½-day in classroom covering theory principles and ½-day practical supervision (8:00 am – 4:00 pm)
